I wanted to take this picture of Notre Dame of Paris from a different angle than it is normally seen. From a point just across the Seine, I was pleased to be able to contrast one of its most famous features, the Rosette window, with the branches of a tree. The center of the picture is not this famous window but a similar one just above it. The scene has many centers depending on your point of view. For an architect it might well be the Rosette window. For a tourist, the entire building. For the faithful, it is neither the tree, the window or the building. It is instead the glimpse of God and His creation that is revealed in each. |
